Audix has introduced and is now shipping the A127, a new omnidirectional metal film condenser microphone for recording applications, specifically designed to capture acoustic instruments with transparency and accuracy.

Incorporating a reference-grade, half-inch Type 1 metal capsule, the A127 has a frequency response of 10 Hz to 20 kHz, dynamic range of 133 dB and self-noise of 7 dBA. The circuit is coupled to the 3-micron metal diaphragm by a series of driven shields to protect the microphone from external interference and capacitive coupling. The mechanical components of the gold-plated shield and the corrosion-resistant housing are machined by Audix at its Wilsonville, OR facilities.

“The A127 offers an exceptional level of detail and realism owing to its half-inch Type 1 metal film reference-grade capsule,” says Steve Johnson, VP of Sales and Marketing at Audix. “Featuring low-noise circuitry and innovative driven-shield protection, the A127 accurately captures a wide dynamic range of acoustic sound sources—in both the near field and far field—without artifact.”
