Noted producer, songwriter and composer Ozan Çolakoğlu has upgraded his production studio in Istanbul, Turkey with a new Audient ASP8024-HE console, utilizing it for a range of projects that include the recent recording of Turkish singer-songwriter Tarkan’s long-awaited 11th studio album’s first single.
“The Audient mic preamps are great — they’re really clean,” Çolakoğlu says. The 24-channel desk has a built-in patchbay and Dual Layer Control (DLC), an option that offers DAW control features for use directly via the console. “Thanks to the DLC, our workflow is better than ever,” he adds. “I also enjoy recording drums and crushing them with ASP8024-HE’s bus compressor. It really has a unique character.”
Çolakoğlu has become one of the best-known names on the Turkish pop scene, with a chance meeting with Tarkan at the beginning of the 1990s kicking off their long working relationship that started with the artist’s debut album, Yine Sensiz, released in 1992. Among work with many other artists and projects over the past three decades, he also produced Sertab Erener’s 2003 Eurovision winning song “Every Way That I Can.”
The console was purchased from Audient distributor Akalın Müzik, who Çolakoğlu has been working with throughout his career: “They;ve never let me down with their advice and support. Audient, of course, was their recommendation. I’m very pleased with this console and am so grateful to Akalın for their advice.”
