At the NAMM 2021 Believe in Music Week virtual event, Apogee Electronics has announced that the Symphony ECS Channel Strip plugin, tuned by noted mix engineer Bob Clearmountain, now runs as a native plugin on macOS and Windows 10 systems in addition to Symphony Desktop on-board hardware DSP.

Based on vintage 1970s hardware equalization, the Symphony ECS Channel Strip EQ is designed to enable contouring synonymous with the musical era. At the same time it offers modern sidechaining for compression without pumping.

The compressor’s gain reduction is based on modern console dynamic processors and is intended to provide easier parallel compression using the Mix knob. For adding finishing touches of color, the Saturation section offers variable levels of harmonic distortion, from the subtle volume boost to more obvious drive.

The new version is available now at a price of $99 USD.
