Apogee Receives “Green Business Certification”

Apogee recognized as an outstanding green business in the community and will enjoy unique benefits of a select group

Apogee Electronics has received the “Green Business Certification” from the Santa Monica (California) Green Business Certification Program.

By participating in this program, Apogee Electronics is recognized by the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Works and the Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau as an outstanding green business in the community and will enjoy unique benefits of this select group.

In preparation for the certification, Apogee installed a premier solar panel system using 96 energy-generating panels at their Santa Monica headquarters. The modules generate up to 15,000 watts at peak and any surplus power generated on weekends and holidays is fed back to the greater Los Angeles power grid.

The company also promotes the recycling of all paper, bottles, cans, and other materials used within the office and is compliant with RoHS and WEEE Directives for its electrical and electronic components.

Betty Bennett, Co-Founder and CEO of Apogee states, “We are honored by the City of Santa Monica’s recognition of our environmental commitment. Receiving the ‘Green Business Certification’ has been a long-time goal beginning with the installation of our solar panels and the recycling of hardware components. As a leading manufacturer of digital audio hardware systems for professionals, we are pleased to be the first in this industry to be certified green in Santa Monica.

“Moving forward, we will strive to continue to be a leader among Green business, not only in our industry but also all businesses alike providing the Green perspective to our customers and partners.”
