A new conferencing room at the headquarters of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) in Bangkok, Thailand is equipped with a flexible sound system utilizing an Allen & Heath Avantis digital mix system in a project under the direction of Nattapoom Pumipunta of integration firm Sonos Libra.
The room hosts a variety of gatherings, from board meetings through to VIP events and conferences along with live music and entertainment. Avantis offers the functionality and customization the audio system needs, including Custom Control software that enables customizable cross-platform control from iOS and Android devices as well as Windows and Mac computers.
Dante networking, via a Dante 64×64 card fitted in the Avantis, provides integration with the PTT’s Crestron NVX system that integrates the audio and visual network streams throughout the facility. A DT164-W expander that PPT included in the audio package also connects to the console via Dante, providing 16 microphone preamps and four line outputs in an inobtrusive wall-mount format.
There are multiple DT02 output expanders around the room that serve as compact Dante interfaces providing two XLR outputs where needed on the Dante network. When the venue is in use as a conferencing room, the AMM (Automatic Mic Mixer) function of Avantis is utilized for more than 40 mic channels for meetings, conferences, broadcast and panel discussions.
“I was really surprised how easily the Avantis was integrated within the Crestron control system,” says PTT’s in-house audio technician, “but also how having Custom Control could bypass the use of the Crestron system and dig into more advanced functions when needed. The superb audio quality when played through our Adamson sound system is impressive, and I would go so far as to say the upgraded conference room could be the best multipurpose room in the country.”
