AKG Mics & Wireless Systems Play Big Role At Red Bull Air Race World Championships 2014

CK49 capsules in system designed to hone in on voices at greater distances and reduce pop noise at short distances

While Hannes Arch, co-architect of Harman’s AKG AV100 aviation headphones, was the winner of the recent Red Bull Air Race in Rovinj, Croatia, the moderator’s position was also outfitted with AKG wireless microphones, headsets and in-ear monitoring systems that helped facilite flawless communication on and off the racecourse during the commencement and winner ceremonies.

The system at the Red Bull Air Race featured AKG DAM+ Series gooseneck microphones, equipped with CK49 capsules for the desks, capturing the sound of live commentators and the winners of the contest. The capsule is designed to hone in on voices at greater distances and reduce pop noise at short distances.

Announcers at the event were also outfitted with AKG WMS4500, DHT700 and DMS700 wireless microphone systems,

“Red Bull wanted to bring pristine audio performance and crystal-clear communication to this competition, which is why these AKG systems were perfect solutions for the Red Bull Air Race,” states Walter Rührig, artist & key customer relations, AKG. “In an outdoor environment like this, it is essential that we provided gear like the CK49 with windscreens, to reduce wind and pop noise during interviews and live announcements. The equipment performed perfectly without hiccups, which is a testament to AKG’s reliability.”
