AES Show 150th International Convention Heyser Lecture & Keynote Presenters Announced

Diana Deutsch, pioneer in the field of hearing and psychoacoustics, and AES Gold Medal award recipient, will deliver the Heyser Memorial Lecture “Two Perceptual Puzzles: Audio Illusions and Perfect Pitch” at the AES Show Spring 2021 Convention.

The Audio Engineering Society has announced new Keynote and Heyser Lecture presentation details for the upcoming AES Show Spring 2021 Convention special events series slated to be streamcast online from May 25 to 28 (2021).

Keynote speakers will include veteran audio professionals Lenise Bent, Marina Bosi and Eelco Grimm, with the Heyser Memorial Lecture being given by hearing and psychoacoustics pioneer Diana Deutsch. AES Gold Medal award-winner Diana Deutsch’s keynote is entitled “Two Perceptual Puzzles: Audio Illusions and Perfect Pitch.” She will discuss her lifelong research into the understanding of the human hearing mechanism and the science of psychoacoustics while showcasing demonstrable examples of common but misunderstood auditory phenomena that play a part in a listener’s perception and utilization of sound. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A session with attendees.

Additionally, topics have been announced for the AES Show’s three keynote presentations: Engineer/Producer Lenise Bent will address “Creative and Alternate Audio Adventurers;” AES Fellow, Past President and current Treasurer-Elect Marina Bosi will discuss “A Peek Under the Hood of Perceptual Audio Coding: A Review of the History and a Look into the Future:” and high-end gear developer, audio researcher and educator Eelco Grimm will focus on “Loudness Normalization, a Personal History.”
