AES News: Mackie Qualifies Onyx-i Mixers For Use With Pro Tools M-Powered 8

Universal driver available for download from Mackie website

At the 2009 AES Convention in New York City, Mackie announced that Onyx-i FireWire Recording Mixers are now fully compatible with all major DAWs, including Avid’s Pro Tools M-Powered 8, Logic, Sonar, Cubase, Ableton Live, Acid Pro, Digital Performer, and more.

Featuring extensive FireWire integration, studio-quality mic pres and British-style EQ, the Onyx-i Mixers combine the best aspects of premium analog mixing with a high-quality computer interface.

Pro Tools M-Powered 8 users must purchase the Mackie Universal Driver upgrade ($49.99 USD) at www.mackie.com.

Once the driver is downloaded and installed, the Onyx 820i, 1220i, 1620i and 1640i mixers can be used with Pro Tools M-Powered 8 software. Onyx-i Series mixers are compatible with all other DAWs right out of box (Core Audio compliant for Mac; included drivers for PC).

“Historically, one of Mackie’s primary goals has been to offer universally compliant recording tools—from HUI and Mackie Control Universal to the new Onyx-i Series mixers,” remarked John Boudreau, VP of LOUD’s Music Gear group. “Audio engineers want to combine the familiar workflow of an analog mixer with the world’s most popular DAWs. Mackie Onyx-i mixers now make this possible.”

Mackie Onyx-i Series Mixers are now available at Mackie authorized dealers worldwide.
