Adlib Audio Launches New Division & AA Install Loudspeaker Range

Adlib Speakers division makking AA series available for re-sale worldwide

Liverpool, England-based Adlib Audio has launched a new division – Adlib Speakers – to manufacture and market its AA brand of loudspeakers, which are made in Liverpool.

Adlib has been making, installing and using the AA range successfully for the last 15 years, primarily for its own installations and projects, and now believes the time has come to step up and make the AA series available for re-sale worldwide, explains Adlib director Mark Roberts, who adds, “The company is diversifying as the nature of the industry is changing. We have enjoyed great success with these products over many years, and now is a good time to use our experience and knowledge of premium speaker construction and application to expand our horizons”.

The AA range is an affordable high-quality product with a noted track record in numerous environments, from installations to high-end corporate events and industry shows.

A number of high-profile installations to date include the Cavern Club in Liverpool (where the Beatles career kicked off) as well as Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leicester O2 Academy, and various restaurant environments such as Living Rooms x 8, Panacea Manchester, along with numerous churches and educational establishments.

Bob Harrison of QMS Music has been retained by Adlib to establish an international dealer network and proactively market the AA product line. “I’m extremely excited to be working with Adlib on bringing this amazing product range to the marketplace,” he states, “and I look forward to a long and very positive working relationship to establish the AA series in its own right as a leading edge option for those with an ear for quality.”

Currently there are four products available in the AA range – the AA61, AA81 and AA121 – containing 6.5-, 8- and 12-inch drivers, respectively, as well as the dedicated AA12HL 12-inch subwoofer.

All AA cabinets are constructed from premium birch ply sourced in Finland, and are available with a hard-wearing textured paint exterior.

The AA61 is a versatile 2-way passive system for high-output applications needing a lightweight and compact enclosure. With a 6.5-inch (165-mm) neodymium low-frequency cone driver and a 1-inch-exit (25-mm) high-frequency compression driver, its integral phase plug is mounted on a 90-degree conical waveguide that is machined into the front baffle of the enclosure. The AA61 can be used in vertical or horizontal orientations due to its conical HF dispersion.

The AA81 is also 2-way passive and designed to provide exceptional sound reinforcement from a very expediently sized enclosure. It has an 8-inch (200-mm) LF cone driver and a 1-inch-exist (25-mm) HF compression driver mounted on a 90- x 60-degree rotatable hyperbolic cosine horn flare. The 2-way passive internal crossover enables simple high-output systems to be joined together while minimizing the amount of powered amplifier channels required. Its high frequency compression driver utilizes solid state (PTC) protection circuitry to shield the unit from possible overload (amplifier clipping) situations.

The AA121 is a 2-way passive trapezoidal enclosure with a 12-inch (300-mm) LF cone driver and a 1-inch exit (25-mm) HF compression driver mounted on a 90- x 40-degree exponential horn flare.

The HF compression driver in all three 2-way models utilizes solid-state (PTC) protection circuitry to shield the unit from possible overload (amplifier clipping) situations, and cabinets all include M10 flying points as standard.

The AA12HL600 compact subwoofer is designed specifically to complement the 2-way models, extending and increasing total LF output. Its bandpass design, using dual-chamber topology, extends LF output over a standard bass reflex design of a similar size and footprint.
