Adamson Systems Engineering Latest Member Company In OCA Alliance

"Open Control Architecture is a protocol we've been invested in for a while and we're happy our choice has been validated and standardized by the AES as AES70." - Brian Fraser, Adamson

At the ISE 2020 show, the OCA Alliance has announced Adamson Systems Engineering as its latest member company.

“Adamson has stepped up as a major advocate in the media networking development and standards arena,” says OCA Alliance marketing chairman Ethan Wetzell, “Their support of the AES70 standard in recent product developments is a significant milestone for the industry. Needless to say, we are extremely pleased to welcome them into the alliance.”

Adamson head of product and technology Brian Fraser adds, “As an audio manufacturer, we recognize the immense benefit open source protocols offer to the industry as a whole. Open Control Architecture is a protocol we’ve been invested in for a while and we’re happy our choice has been validated and standardized by the AES as AES70.”

ISE 2020 will see a significant number of new AES70 announcements and offerings, with the alliance showcasing several new AES70-enabled products at its booth (7-H250), alongside developer tools and resources supporting the development and integration of the AES70 into new and existing media networking products.

The includes the RA-ES70DSP04 from Profusion, a 4×6 DSP module with built in web-server, designed specifically for AES70 remote control, targeted at powered loudspeakers, power amplifiers, networked microphones and audio effects gear. The tools are designed to enable fast configuration of DSP blocks, which include key audio algorithms such as parametric EQ, compressor-limiter and time alignment delay, plus many others effects, such as reverb and chorus. The AES70 device model and web-based control panel is automatically generated using the tools provided, thereby minimizing the developmental investment required to enable implementation of AES70 control.

In addition, DeusO continues to promote OCA adoption, focusing on high-performance AES70 libraries and product examples. The Germany-based software company is displaying a highly compact OCA device named “Bytesize: with just 1 KB of static RAM requirement. A network latency performance evaluation, named “Hasty,” and a downloadable AES70 evaluation kit, “Highjinks,” running on a Raspberry Pi, are also being shown at the booth.

AES70 is an open control and monitoring standard for professional audio and AV media network devices. From a single device and controller, to networks with almost any number of devices and multiple controllers, AES70 is designed to provide for high speed, low cost system control and monitoring of devices from different manufacturers. It can be used in conjunction with any available transport protocol (Dante, MILAN, AES67, Cobranet, etc.).
