TRANSAMERICA AUDIO GROUP (TAG) TO DISTRIBUTE
GEORGE MASSENBURG LABS (GML)
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: George Massenburg Labs (GML) has joined
forces with Transamerica Audio Group (TAG) for product distribution
in the United States. Distinguished among audio manufacturers for
uncompromised fidelity and painstaking attention to detail, GML
has long enjoyed the respect of engineers the world over. Indeed,
front-line professional recording studios pride themselves on owning
investment-quality GML equipment. Allowing TAG to handle distribution
will permit GML to concentrate on what it does best: research and
design.
GML was founded by current CEO George Massenburg, audio jack- (and
master-) of-all-trades. Beginning with his seminal 1972 AES paper
on the Parametric Equalizer, Massenburg has amassed a list of accomplishments
that reads more like the composite resume of a distinguished institution's
faculty. He has engineered and/or produced over 250 albums for such
luminaries as Earth, Wind & Fire, Little Feat, Linda Ronstadt,
Randy Newman, garnering numerous Grammys amid a sea of nominations.
He also won Mix Magazine's TEC Awards for Producer and Engineer
of the Year for Little Feat, as well as Engineer of the Year Award
for both Linda Ronstadt and Lyle Lovett. He has designed, built,
and managed ITI Studios in Huntsville, Maryland and The Complex
in Los Angeles. He is an Adjunct Professor of Music Technology at
McGill University in Montréal and visiting lecturer at UCLA
and USC in Los Angeles and MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Not
least among all these accomplishments, Massenburg chartered GML,
Inc. in 1982 to produce the audio equipment he used in the above
activities.
GML, LLC has recently integrated the manufacturing know-how of Manley
Laboratories, Inc. to handcraft GML's products at Manley's Chino,
California facility. Manley has built a stellar reputation for in-house
manufacturing, everything from metal work, to circuit board manufacturing,
to hand and wave soldering - and all with meticulous quality control.
Currently, the GML product line features industry-standard parametric
equalizers, microphone preamplifiers, dynamics processors, noise
filters, A/D converters, and automation systems. A new processor,
the Single Channel Integrated Input Channel GML 2020 will be on
the floor at AES NY 2001.
"Having the privilege of distributing George Massenburg's equipment
is a real coup," noted Brad Lunde, president of TAG. "GML
gear is unrivaled. It has no peer.
Owners continually say it's the best product
they own. The only problem with the line is that this has been a
well-kept secret among the upper echelon of the recording industry
and the gear has been hard to find. TAG is ready to solve those
issues and get GML equipment into the right hands."
"We have been looking for a company that is as good at representation
and distribution as GML is at pro audio design, and we finally found
one", effuses Massenburg. "Brad Lunde really understands
what we do and why we do it. We're looking forward to significant
growth in the next year."
