SENNHEISER AND NEUMANN DONATE MICROPHONES
FOR WTC TELETHON REHEARSALS
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK, NEW YORK: With more than 89 million television
viewers tuning in from around the world, "America: A Tribute
to Heroes" will be remembered as one of the entertainment industry's
finest hours. Artists including Neil Young, Faith Hill, Billy Joel,
U2, Sting, Mariah Carey, and Dave Matthews joined Hollywood superstars
like Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith to raise funds on both
coasts for victims of the September 11th tragedies. Sennheiser was
pleased to support this worthy event by donating a number of Sennheiser
and Neumann microphones to SIR NY for use during artist rehearsals
prior the telecast.
SIR NY is one of New York City's premier rehearsal spaces and back-line
rental companies, providing practice facilities for world-class
musicians and top television shows alike. Studio manager Marc Alan
called Sennheiser's Rob Treloar (with whom he's previously worked)
to discuss their need for a number of Sennheiser microphones for
the September 21st telecast.
Treloar quickly responded with the following Sennheiser evolution
series units: eight e 835 condenser microphones, eight 604 drum
mics, eight 609 guitar mics, and four 602 kick drum mics. Also supplied
were two Neumann TLM 103 monolith piano mics, a pair of Neumann
184s for high hats and acoustic guitars, and several KMS 105 vocal
mics.
For decades, Sennheiser and Neumann mics have enjoyed a dominant
position in recording studios and in the broadcast/film and entertainment
market segments. Today their scope has broadened, having gained
wide acceptance in live performance applications. "The Sennheiser
and Neumann mics were absolutely flawless, both in their accuracy
and in their technical specifications," noted Alan. "Among
the highlights, a Neumann KMS 105 beautifully captured Faith Hill's
emotive vocal stylings, and a pair of Neumann TLM 103s delivered
a stunning piano image. We used a Sennheiser 609/602 combination
on Paul Schaffer's Hammond B3 and on Carol Steele's conga drums
to great effect. These microphones are world-class, hands down."
"We're familiar with all the great work Marc and his team at
SIR NY have done in the past," said Treloar, NE Distributed
Brands Marketing Manager, "and we simply wanted to do whatever
we could to help out during this time of need."
