Crescent Moon Studios Installs Solid State Logic SL 9000 J Series Superanalogue Console In Studio A PRESS RELEASE MIAMI- Crescent Moon Studios, the premier studio complex originally created to support Gloria Estefan's recording needs, has made the move to a new 80-channel Solid State Logic SL 9000 J Series SuperAnalogueÔ Console in Studio A. The SL 9000 significantly raises the sonic bar for Crescent Moon, attracting clients who demand nothing less than an SL 9000. "We reached the point where not having a J Series was holding us back," says Kevin Dillon, general manager for Crescent Moon. "Typically, we rely on the opinions of freelance engineers that work here, our technical staff and of producers that work in other studios to get a feeling about where we should go. The feedback was a resounding "yes" for getting the SL 9000. This console is definitely a draw for business." Crescent Moon started in 1990 as Estefan's two-room facility. Because of its great reputation for technical excellence, the studio quickly expanded to become a commercial facility offering five rooms and a video editing suite. The addition of the SL 9000 compliments the new studio through its superior sound quality, a quality not lost on top producer, engineer and songwriter Sebastian Krys, who works with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin and Estefan. "The biggest improvement with the J Series is its incredible sound," states Krys. "The SL 9000 is sonically superior to anything on the market. I find it more of a musical console with very clean EQ's and because of this, it is easier to achieve what I want on the console. The J Series is very familiar to use and the automation is quick. Most importantly, the console can deliver great sound over a wide variety of music styles, be it very percussive or something with strings, from pop to rock. The SL9000 can give you what ever you want." According to Dillon, the SL 9000 was retrofitted into Studio A with minimal physical changes made to the room. "The room is 5.1 surround ready for clients who need that kind of mixing situation," explains Dillon. "While 5.1 is not a mainstay mixing mode here at present, we get enough requests for a console that can handle both stereo and 5.1 without any problem. The J Series puts us in a position to give our clients mixing flexibility combined with the absolute best sound. While we grew our business on technical merit, people enjoy coming back to our facility again and again because of the warm, family atmosphere.
