Webcast: Brooks & Dunn On The Future Of The Recording Industry

By PSW Staff December 12, 2008

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn at the University of Tennessee.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn—who perform as the award-winning country music act Brooks & Dunn—were recently at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Law to discuss how changing technology is transforming the recording industry.

Brooks said the question he’s most frequently asked – after how he and Dunn got together – is how illegal downloading is affecting their business. This topic, as well as a more wide-ranging discussion that included Brooks & Dunn joined by other entertainment professionals, highlights the dynamic and sometimes uncertain future currently faced by everyone working in recording and related industries.

The panel also addressed “360-degree” contracts, where record companies are seeking to get involved in artists’ live music, merchandise and endorsement deals.

The entire discussion was recorded and is available for free viewing via webcast by clicking here. It’s well worth your time.
