In order to accommodate the new sound requirements at Calvary Apostolic Church’s temporary facility in Hampden, Maine, Sound Media Concepts has deployed Harman‘s Soundcraft Si Compact 32 and JBL Professional PRX portable PA loudspeakers for weekly Sunday services and Wednesday’s Bible study sessions. The Calvary Apostolic Church, which was completely destroyed in a fire in 2011, wanted to upgrade its facility and bring it back to life. Currently, the church is in a semi-temporary building, however, “The Si Compact will… View this post

    Rob Gault 06/06/12 04:17 PM,
Why are there so many different kinds of loudspeaker drivers and types? Working for a loudspeaker manufacturer over the years I’ve heard many people say, “What’s the best speaker you make?” Or, “I’d like your best I5-inch loudspeaker,” etc. The truth of the matter is the “best” speaker depends on your application. The main reasons because there are so many different applications, and no one loudspeaker is capable of fulfilling all the requirements of all applications. And like most things,… View this post

Dear OSM: I’m wondering if you have had this question before… Probably, but go ahead. … I work for a local company with dreams of going regional/national… You have something in common with many fellow Americans! And foreigners too! … although my employer never seems to get the gigs. See, you have even more in common with many audio servants! As well as people all over who work for caterers, Top-40 bands, laser companies, gardening services, and of course, the… View this post

    Gary Zandstra 06/06/12 01:21 PM,
At live events (church services, weddings, concerts and so on), it’s definitely not my favorite thing to tell sound operators how to fix their mixes. But when there is basic stuff happening like constant feedback, the monitors turned up louder than the mains, EQ that has taken the vocals out of the mix, and so on, I feel compelled to help, and also to spare the ears of those in the audience. When I go to the sound booth, I… View this post

RCF has announced the sale of its first D-Line HDL 20-A active line array system to Leicestershire-based Chameleon Pro Audio & Lighting Ltd in the United Kingdom. Given the vast spectrum of events for which the company provides production support, Stewart Duckworth’s long-standing sales, rental and installation operation sensed the time was right to invest in its own line array system after previously hiring in. As a result, this month they took delivery of an initial 12 HDL 20-A full… View this post

Within days of the launch of DiGiCo’s  SD10 console in 2010, Indian rental company Sound.com had invested in one, its first DiGiCo console. Two years later, the desk is a regular fixture on events serviced by the company, the latest an orchestral tour celebrating the work of composer AR Rahman. Purchased via DiGiCo’s Indian distributor Rivera International, the SD10 was the ideal product to give Sound.com the edge in the competitive Indian market. “I always wanted to be a part… View this post
