    church sound
    Bruce Bartlett 04/11/12 01:43 PM,
This article is provided by Bartlett Microphones.   You patch in a piece of audio equipment, and there it is: HUM! This annoying sound is a common occurrence in sound systems. Hum is an unwanted 60 Hz tone—50 Hz in Europe—maybe with harmonics. If the harmonics are especially strong, the hum becomes an edgy buzz. A sound system also might be plagued by RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). It’s heard as buzzing, clicks, radio programs, or “hash” in the audio signal.… View this post

When legendary Dutch cinematographer and film director Jan de Bont was approached to produce an art project which promotes the country’s HSL-Zuid high speed rail project, his concept of a 3D film of the route was technically challenging. But with the assistance of an Alcons Audio system, audiences of the finished film, Surfing on Light, enjoyed a complete sensory experience. De Bont has worked on many high profile films, including Twister, Basic Instinct, Die Hard and Lara Croft Tomb Raider.… View this post

One Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of high intelligibility direct-weather capable speaker systems, has announced the new CrossField Array-2 (CFA-2), which delivers a unique combination of very high acoustic output and superior sound quality. The CFA-2 is a 55-degree x 30-degree vertical array that features a fully rotatable high-frequency waveguide that enables the system to be oriented vertically or horizontally for installation flexibility, while still achieving optimum coverage. Its transducer compliment consists of two large-format compression drivers coupled to… View this post

With 14 campuses in and around the city of Chicago and 25 weekend worship services each Sunday, New Life Community Church is one very active non-denominational Christian church. Until recently, their Midway Campus sanctuary faced a number of speech intelligibility and related challenges with their sound reinforcement system. The situation is now resolved—thanks in large part to the new sound system consisting of Variant Series installation line array loudspeakers from D.A.S. Audio. West Chester, OH-based Troubadour Solutions, an A/V design… View this post

The D.A.S. Audio journey began more than 40 years ago, when a new enterprise named “Dynamic and Sound” was created by Juan Alberola in Valencia, Spain in 1971. Alberola, with a serious passion for audio, began designing and manufacturing his own loudspeakers and components, initially for studio monitoring and home listening, and all built in-house. Just a few years later, that focus also included producing larger loudspeakers for Spain’s thriving dance club, fueled by the country’s reputation as a European… View this post

An understanding of the sound reinforcement system optimization process as described in my previous article (here) leads to what may be a startling conclusion: with relatively little effort, this technology could be leveraged immediately. A number of products are currently on the market that begin to leverage this technology. These range from stand-alone beam-steering column loudspeakers from companies such as Renkus-Heinz, Tannoy and EAW to higher-power arrayable products such as Martin Audio MLA, Duran Audio Target, and Renkuz-Heinz IC Squared.… View this post

When Yes Events Ltd purchased a major RCF Theatre & Touring (TT+) system nine months ago they were determined to standardize on RCF components from that point forward. Their recent purchase of eight-enclosure TTL33-A compact, 3-way active line array system and two additional TTS28-A subwoofers was a good start on that commitment. In addition, they have invested in six TT25-SMA touring 15in stage monitors and RCF’s proprietary RDNet system software, to integrate with the TTL33-A. According to Yes Events director,… View this post

A new audio system under control of the Q-Sys Integrated System Platform has been installed at the Ospedale Martini hospital in Turin, Italy as part of an upgrade to its communications network, courtesy of the exclusive QSC distributor in the region, AudioLink. Based around a Core 1000 processor, the Q-Sys platform controls the call and paging systems, routing audio to twin CX204V and CX302V amplifiers, as well as AcousticDesign surface-mount and in-ceiling loudspeakers strategically placed around the hospital. Like any… View this post
