El Tabernacle church in Walkerville, South Africa, has long suffered from acoustic issues which made it difficult for the worship leaders to be heard above the enthusiastic congregation. Church elder Gustav Adams approached Richard Smith of local technical production specialists Sound Harmonics, who ultimately decided on a solution from L-Acoustics. “As part of a complete technical revamp of the building, I was asked to come up with an overall plan to achieve high quality, clear and powerful sound,” explains Smith.… View this post

The Turbosound iNSPIRE iP2000 is a loudspeaker system comprised of modular, full-range column arrays and a companion 12-inch subwoofer. Each column array is comprised of 16 cone drivers plus a horn-loaded super-tweeter that can be easily mounted on the sub, locking to it and thus eliminating loudspeaker stands and cables. The iP2000 is outfitted with proprietary Klark Teknik SST (Spatial Sound Technology) for helping to create enhanced 3D acoustic environments as well as DSP presets for application type and loudspeaker… View this post

The most common reference distance for loudspeaker SPL specifications is 1 meter (3.28 feet). The choice is one of convenience – any distance will do. The 1 m reference simplifies distance attenuation calculations by eliminating the division required in the first step:   Loudspeakers must be measured at a distance beyond which the shape of the radiation balloon remains unchanged. The changes are caused by path length differences to different points on the surface of the device. These differences… View this post

Martin Audio has announced a significant upgrade to Display, the software brain of the MLA Series. Display is the numerical optimization process that eliminates lengthy trial-and-error tuning sessions, so that an MLA Series system achieves the required audience coverage straight out of the box. Based on an acoustic model of array behavior, it gives a precise prediction of the direct sound produced over the audience as well as areas where sound is to be minimized. It takes the guesswork out… View this post
