Colombian singer/songwriter/guitarist Juanes recently wrapped up his Loco De Amor (Crazy Love) tour, which was reinforced by an Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) Anya PA provided by Camarillo, California-based Rat Sound. The tour traveled with 40 Anya modules and eight EAW KF364NT loudspeakers for fill. Because the size of the venues varied, the PA would range from eight modules per side to 20, depending upon the coverage required. “I went to a demo of Anya last year and had the opportunity… View this post

Feed The Brain. The primary job of a measurement rig is to acquire electrical and acoustical signals and feed them to the processor so that it can analyze, compare, slice, dice, fold, spindle and mutilate those signals and produce multi-colored charts, graphs and the all-important squiggly lines. “But my software can produce squiggly lines all by itself without all those bothersome wires, preamps and microphones. Isn’t that enough?” Maybe. It depends on whether you are getting paid to pose or… View this post

When Switzerland’s Raiffeisen Bank put on one of the country’s largest corporate events of the year, it relied on Riedel Communications equipment and infrastructure – including 5,000 meters of fiber cabling – to support signal transport and communications. The weeklong Raiffeisen DialogPlus event brought 10,000 employees and board members to the 100,000-square-meter Messe Basel exhibition space for a landmark corporate meeting, as well as the production of a “lip dub” of unprecedented scale. The DialogPlus deployment of Riedel Communications solutions… View this post

British DJ and producer Ben Westbeech has invested in a Prism Sound Titan USB multi-track audio interface for his studio in Amsterdam, citing audio clarity as his main reason for choosing the unit. Westbeech moved from London to Amsterdam two years ago and set up his own studio facility. However, he regularly commutes to the UK to record material for his BBC Radio 1 residency, which he presents as Breech. “Before I left London, I had my studio in the… View this post

It’s early days for the Hennepin Technical College (HTC) Audio Production students, but initial reports suggest that they are getting on a treat with the recently installed Audient ASP4816 console. “Students have already noted that the simplicity in design and operation is easier to wrap their heads around than virtual controllers and ‘layers’ that may be found on some of the digital equipment in other rooms,” says Matt Holmes of the Audio Production Faculty. This is thanks in no small… View this post

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), a major festival of the electronic dance music world, took place earlier this year at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The fifth edition of the festival, which drew over 400,000 attendees, also marked the debut of the Focusrite RedNet D16 AES interface at the event, where 3G Productions, the sound reinforcement provider for three of the show’s stages, deployed the D16 AES for the output of 96-kHz audio via Dante networking to AES3-compatible amplifiers in the… View this post

The reshaping of entertainment production wireless operations in the U.S. is currently underway, and it will impact all wireless microphone, in-ear monitoring and intercom system users – including those working in church sound – in the near future. The shrinking UHF band, where the vast majority of wireless systems currently operate, will get even smaller with the 2016 commencement of the 600 MHz incentive auction to allow the mass introduction of white space devices. Almost all of the remaining UHF… View this post

The National Gugak Center in Seoul, South Korea has added M’elodie line array loudspeakers to upgrade the decade-old Meyer Sound system in its 800-seat Yeak-Dang Theatre. Renowned for its role in preserving and promoting ancient Korean musical traditions, the Center continues to count on the durability and reliability of its UPM-1P, CQ-1, and CQ-2 loudspeakers, which were reconfigured for the upgraded system. The decision to upgrade with M’elodie was not a foregone conclusion, despite the Yeak-Dang’s previous positive experience with… View this post
