Independent FOH engineer Nigel Paul is using the Midas PRO9 digital live audio system for the band’s ongoing world tour. Dream Theater has been on the road almost continuously since July 2011 in support of its 11th studio album, A Dramatic Turn Of Events. Clair Global is the audio provider. For Paul, choosing a Midas PRO Series console was an easy decision. A career-long fan of Midas analog consoles, most notably the XL4, he became an early adopter of the… View this post

Recycled Percussion holds the distinction of the highest non-vocal finalists ever on “America’s Got Talent”. They’re now playing for audiences at the famed Tropicana Las Vegas Theater, performing six interactive shows a week using nearly 60 Audix mics to capture their brand of mayhem. From the moment guests enter the theater and are each handed a drum stick and something to bang on, to the curtain raising to reveal… well nothing, it’s obvious that this will not be a typical… View this post

If jazz music is epitomized by freedom of expression then the VIP Jazz Club in Zagreb is better placed than most to understand that concept. Located on Bana Jelacica square situated in downtown Zagreb, the square is significant for being the cradle of Croatian independence. The club itself is comparable in size to the venerable Ronnie Scott’s in London and indeed hosts a similar range of recognized international jazz artists. Like Scott’s it also boasts a d&b audiotechnik sound system.… View this post

Point Source Audio has launched the new CO-7L Miniature Lavalier in response to customer demand for a lavalier version of its flagship CO-7 earworn microphone.  The new CO-7L Miniature Lavalier fills a need for speakers in broadcast or theatre production who generally prefer or need an “invisible” option.  The CO-7L element is extremely small so it can be cleverly hidden in the hairline, behind a button, or even attached to eyeglasses.  It is also water-resistant to be more resilient against… View this post

As the heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch tours North America in 2012, front of house engineer Bruce Reiter will be mixing them on his new desk: the Midas PRO2C digital mixing system. “I was looking for a compact console and saw it online,” Reiter states. “I was considering a lot of different desks, but then I had the opportunity to touch the PRO2C for the first time at the NAMM Show.
