Provided by HOW To Church Sound Workshops. Here are some of our favorite picks from YouTube with videos your sound team can use to become better equipped. Microphone Patterns I regularly demonstrate microphone polar patterns with my voice in the How-To Workshops, but here’s a clinical version of that test using white noise so you can hear how the frequency response and pickup pattern changes as you move around the mic.     Stereo A Go Go When you need… View this post

Encompassed in today’s live show are several individual shows, for example, light shows, laser shows and more. It’s not uncommon for each of these independent shows to have its own set of engineers. The focal point is the band/artist, and they’re the reason all of the other shows are taking place. And, it should be pointed out that most of these “shows within the show” are presented for the audience. Good engineers realize that the monitor mix is a show… View this post

    PSW Staff 03/15/12 03:27 PM,
Based in Chappell Hill, TX, Golden Entertainment Group has been utilizing Line 6 XD-V digital wireless systems since company owner Peron Einkauf began using them at the 2011 South By Southwest Music (SXSW) Conference in Austin. They’ve been a mainstay in his events ever since. “We provided production for six South By Southwest venues last year,” Einkauf reports. “Normally, we don’t bring any wireless to that event. There’s a venue every 30 feet, bands changing every 30 minutes, and it’s… View this post

    Jeremy Carter 03/15/12 03:11 PM,
This article is provided by Jeremy Carter.   There are several different types of pickups and microphones to choose from. Here is a basic overview. Soundhole Magnetic Pickup Pros: It’s easy, inexpensive, and can give decent results very quickly. Cons: Because it is a magnetic pickup (like an electric guitar pickup), its sound is a little more dark and electronic sounding. Also, you have to deal with the annoying cable coming out of your soundhole. Connection to PA: Direct box,… View this post

    Mike Sessler 03/14/12 01:00 PM,
This article is provided by ChurchTechArts.   Though I’ve been using rechargeable batteries for almost six years now, I’m still learning the best way to maximize their life and run time. I am a firm believer in continuing education, and we try to monitor the life of our batteries, look at the data and feed that information back into our systems that get tweaked for better performance. As I said in a previous post about batteries, I was a little… View this post

    PSW Staff 03/14/12 09:23 AM,
Kelowna Christian Centre (KCC) in Kelowna, British Columbia recently upgraded their sanctuary with a new sound reinforcement system featuring Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers and subwoofers. KCC’s flexible, decade-old sanctuary is heavily used by the church and the school, and also for events, but until recently its multi-media infrastructure and sound reinforcement were outdated and approaching haphazard. Local A/V integrator AVcom Technical Productions designed and installed the new state-of-the-art A/V system centered on the Danley Sound Labs boxes. “As is common… View this post
