    tech package
    Mark E. P. (Milo) Woods 09/23/11 04:01 PM,
The technical information package often provides the first contact that a touring sound crew has with a given performance facility. This is often called “advancing the show,” and can be vital to the success (or failure) of both sound quality of the production, as well as addressing important factors such as the speed and efficiency of the system load-in and set-up. In a perfect world, the sound mixer/designer for a touring production will receive a copy of an in-depth description… View this post

EAW announces the passing of Moray McMillin, a concert touring veteran and EAW Application Support Group Representative for the EMEA region. He passed away at age 58 after a long battle with cancer. McMillin was a strong presence in touring sound for several decades, and he flourished in his subsequent role at EAW. He is sorely missed by the EAW family and the professional audio industry as a whole. “We are all just devastated,” said EAW president Jeff Rocha. “Moray… View this post

This article is provided by Home Studio Corner.   My recent post on charging for your work sparked some really interesting discussions. If you haven’t yet, be sure to join in the conversation over there (or on Facebook or Twitter). The general premise of yesterday’s post was to think about charging by the project rather than by the hour. One question came up about what to do with clients who are unreasonable. If you’re charging by the project, how do… View this post

Hey OSM Hey Dan! Yoko Onos. You know what I mean, I’m sure everyone who has sat behind a sound board knows what I mean. The know-it-all girl friends of the prima-donna lead singers. Oh, yes. And really, they can be the girlfriend of any band member. Her guy is always not loud enough in the mix. But a word of caution, Dan. Please do not libel Yoko Ono. I know that it is tempting to blame her for the… View this post

This article is provided by Bobby Owsinski.   There are a few people on the planet that know a lot about microphones and how they’re made, but not many know as much and have the dedication of David Bock, the founder and owner of Bock Audio (formerly Soundelux Microphones). After all, how many people would go to the extent of teaching themselves German just so they could read the old Neumann service manuals? David makes some truly excellent mics, and… View this post
