One of the primary event spaces at the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA), the second-largest municipally-owned museum in the nation, is benefitting from a sound system upgrade that centers on an Ashly Audio PEMA integrated processor/amplifier and FR-16 network fader remote control. “The walls, floors, and ceiling of the event space are solid stone,” observes Dennis Phillips, owner of Phillips Pro Audio, the company that designed and installed the new audio system. “It’s an art institute, after all. The church leaders at South Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church located in Spokane, Washington, had been satisfied with their older, center cluster sound system for years. Used primarily for the spoken word, church members found it adequate for their services. That all changed when Summit Ridge Christian Fellowship also in Spokane, brought in their portable system for the services they hold at South Hill. Featuring Fulcrum Audio loudspeakers powered by Powersoft amplifiers, the portable church system blew away the existing… View this post

The D.A.S. Audio journey began more than 40 years ago, when a new enterprise named “Dynamic and Sound” was created by Juan Alberola in Valencia, Spain in 1971. Alberola, with a serious passion for audio, began designing and manufacturing his own loudspeakers and components, initially for studio monitoring and home listening, and all built in-house. Just a few years later, that focus also included producing larger loudspeakers for Spain’s thriving dance club, fueled by the country’s reputation as a European… View this post

Rock’n’roll is just a little quieter today, following the passing of Jim Marshall, who helped the genre turn it up to 10. Marshall, 88, founded the iconic guitar amp brand Marshall Amplification in 1962. According to Marshall’s family, the rock pioneer died in a hospice in his native England on Thursday (April 5). “He got cancer toward the end of last year, and had surgery for that, and it came back,” his son Terry Marshall said. “He was in a… View this post
