SPL Systems has been a provider of audio services for over 20 years. Owner Bill Forbes says that while the company once handled retail and installation as part of their business, they grew to focus exclusively on live sound. Looking to overhaul their amplifier rig in pursuit of audio performance, next generation DSP and networking, and a more compact amplifier rig, SPL Systems turned to Powersoft‘s X and K Series amplifiers. “I’m a very cautious buyer and it took a… View this post

Front of house engineer Wilberto Madera and audio systems engineer Jimmy Ibanez recently deployed JBL by Harman Professional Solutions VTX Series arrays for Pitbull’s “The Bad Man” tour. With more than 25 U.S. dates on the tour and limited setup time before each show, Madera and Ibanez needed an easy-to-deploy system that could reproduce Pitbull’s unique blend of Latin rap, bass and crunk music with consistent, full fidelity results from venue to venue. JBL VTX V25-II line arrays and Crown… View this post

Located in Clarksville, just northeast of Nashville, Austin Peay State University’s football team – the Governors – plays at the 10,000-seat Fortera Stadium, which was built seventy years ago and was, until recently, known as Governors Stadium. In the early days of our industry, equipment was made to serve the user’s needs. Many of the original studio owners came from a radio background. They built their own equipment, from consoles to compressors to equalizers, etc. They didn’t have cost-effective manufacturing in mind when they created this equipment. They built it in order to make superior-sounding recordings. At some point, other people in the audio community asked these pioneers to build equipment for their studios. The world of… View this post

ATC announces the upcoming availability of the P2 PRO dual mono power amplifier, rated to deliver 300 watts of continuous power. Hand-built by ATC in the UK, the Class A/B P2 PRO is a dual mono design, keeping the power supplies, signal, and return paths discrete. This approach helps ensure that the amplifier will achieve maximum signal separation with minimal crosstalk, and that intermodulation between channels via the power supplies is reduced to a minimum. It also means that the… View this post

Over 600 d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers, nearly 150 D80 amplifiers, and twenty nine delay towers for one stage; this was an event on an almost unprecedented scale.
