Beyma has introduced two new 18-inch low-frequency cone drivers at Prolight+Sound/Messe in Frankfurt. The new 18P1000FeV2 is an upgraded version of the popular 18P1000Fe model. It provides improved power handling—increased to 1,200 watts AES—while delivering accurate and controlled bass performance. The 18P1000FeV2 has a redesigned magnetic assembly and convection circuit for enhanced efficiency and extremely low air noise, sounding again improved over the previous model. Meanwhile, the new 18PWB1000Fe is designed to deliver a lower end and a deeper sound.… View this story

Beyma has introduced the new MC500 family of ferrite-magnet woofers, available in 10-, 12-, and 15-inch sizes, primarily designed for active loudspeaker systems and line arrays as mid-range or low-frequency components. All three models—10MC500, 12MC500 and 15 MC500—incorporate 2.5-inch voice coils with ceramic magnet as well as Maltcross technology, Beyma’s propietary cooling system, which allows them to handle up to 1,000 watts of program power while dramatically reducing loss due to power compression effect. Further, MC500 models offering large displacement… View this story

    PSW Staff 01/14/14 06:46 PM,
Designing a loudspeaker system is a lot easier today than it was in the past. It used to be that only a limited number of drivers were available, and there was a lot of trial and error involved in making the boxes. Now we’re blessed with two major improvements. First, we have computers to help us, and programs like BassBox Pro and Hornresp make it easy to design and make changes to the design without ever having to cut a… View this story

    real world gear drivers
    Mark Frink 12/21/09 11:23 AM, 1 Comment
Once upon a time, most sound companies had a wood shop for building loudspeakers as well as road cases. These days, superior off-the-shelf loudspeakers employ high tech transducers. Indeed, some of the most advanced drivers are not for sale to the general public outside of the products that enclose them. Adamson Systems, JBL Professional and Meyer Sound have developed proprietary transducer technology that can only be owned though purchase of their loudspeaker systems, but we won’t be covering those products.… View this story
