The ongoing Coldplay Viva La Vida concert tour has all band members utilizing Sensaphonics custom earphones and Sennheiser wireless systems. Further, all four band members upgraded from the classic ProPhonic 2X-S to the Sensaphonics 2MAX. “Most of the backline crew also have Sensaphonics IEMs,” says Monitor Engineer Chris Wood. “We have found the drivers to be very reliable. I can’t recall having a problem in the eight years we have used them.” A few wedges can still be seen on…

The planning and construction of Northwood Baptist Church’s new worship center in North Charleston, South Carolina, took nearly four years – and the church couldn’t be happier. “It took a little longer than we had originally hoped, but the patience paid off,” admits worship pastor Michael Bell. “But by taking the time to get it right, we got way more than we ever thought we could have. Our new Allen & Heath iLive-T console is a perfect example.” Design-build integrator…

Christ’s Church of the Valley in San Dimas, CA, has been growing steadily in recent years, making a switch to digital audio mixing a virtual necessity. With multiple locations, six weekend services, and a broadcast component that includes live streaming and re-broadcast in New Zealand and Australia, the number of audio paths has increased far beyond the capabilities of conventional analog. To meet these needs, this evangelical contemporary church selected two Allen & Heath iLive consoles – an iLive-176 for…

British indie rockers Doves are currently headlining their first world tour in four years in support of their latest and fourth outing, Kingdom of Rust. Summer is here, and a good many of us are out working those “mud and dust” shows, fairs and festivals. We get to clean amplifier filters on a daily basis, put wedges into garbage bags to keep them dry, mix with visqueen draped over the console (also to keep it dry). And, we’ll have a shop vacuum at front of house as well as the monitor “beach.” That said, the toughest aspect to deal with when doing shows in the…

A recent poll here at ProSoundWeb asked, “The one thing I’d like to see the return of, or at least more of, in sound reinforcement is…” Response choices included tube electronics, rotary faders, loud/distorted audio, wired-only microphones, and wedges only (no IEM). Oh, and the winner: none of the above, which garnered almost 50 percent of the vote. Number two was tube electronics getting more than 20 percent, with number three being wired-only mics at about 15 percent. I was…
