Mackie describes the HD1531 as a “15” High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker System”. Yep, it’s got a 15” woofer, and it’s a three-way system, and it’s powered. Now what’s all this about being “High Definition”? I suppose I could try to explain it, but it might be easier if you just go here (pdf) and get the Mackie explanation. The ordinary every-day non-HD attributes of this powered loudspeaker include 900 watts of power with an 1800 watt peak. Power is divided 700/100/100…

The new Biema MAX 10 loudspeaker combines the advantages of wide frequency response and dynamic range with low harmonic distortion and high fidelity. The MAX 10 high-frequency component employs a BMS driver made in Germany, while the rotatable horn provides 50-degree by 80-degree coverage. The 10-inch woofer is mounted in a vented enclosure tuned for optimized low frequency response. An internal passive filter network provides all acoustical crossover and equalization. Inputs and outputs are Neutrik Type NL4, wired in parallel.…

The extensive sound reinforcement system serving the new Lancaster County Convention Center (LCCC) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania features network-ready Ashly Audio NE8250 power amplifiers. Interestingly, these amplifiers didn’t exist at the outset of the original system design for this long-delayed building project. “Now that it’s all finished, the preservation of the famous façade is a wonderful aspect of the center, and well worth the hassle during construction,” said Mark Showers, system specialist at Sage Technology Solutions in nearby Mount Joy. Sage…

Beyma Professional has introduced the 12P80Nd, a 12-inch driver that is the newest member of the company’s P80Nd high-efficiency loudspeaker family, joining the 15P80Nd and the 18P80Nd in design concept and features. The 12P80Nd provides high efficiency (4,3 percent) and high sensitivity of 100,3 dB @ 1w/1m. The mechanical assembly features a forced air convection circuit which allows a very effective thermal dissipation of the voice coil, decreasing in a significant way the working temperature and so, decreasing the power…

TransAudio Group has announced the immediate availability of ATC’s most reasonably-priced reference monitor, the SCM11 two-way passive speaker. The new monitor incorporates ATC’s Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) technology, which reduces third-harmonic distortion between 100 Hz and 3 kHz, resulting in an extended, resonance-free axial frequency response, improved off-axis frequency response, and a significant increase in loudspeaker power response. The new CLD technology is incorporated in the 5.9 inches (150 mm) mid/low frequency driver with 1.77 inches (45 mm) integral soft…

KRK Systems is now shipping the R6 passive studio monitor, which incorporates design cues from KRK’s popular Rokit line, including radically radiused edges along the front of the cabinet. The R6, like its Rokit brethren, provides a sleeker, more modern look, including a molded front baffle also engineered to minimize diffraction of high-frequencies, resulting in a sweet spot that is significantly larger than products with square or lightly rounded baffles. The baffle also houses a molded front-facing bass port that…
