Question: How did you get your start in the business? Kevin Elson: I played in bands in junior high and high school, and then started doing sessions. I did my first sessions, playing keyboards with Lynyrd Skynryd, when I was 16 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I had been playing in a band that was the beginning of 38 Special. The singer, Donnie Van Zant, had a brother, Ronnie, who sang with a band called One Percent, and that band became…

The Fillmore Charlotte, a 20,000-square-foot venue at the North Carolina Music Factory’s entertainment complex in Charlotte, North Carolina’s Fourth Ward neighborhood, stays true to the tradition of the original Fillmore theaters. The venue, which opened this past June with Georgia acoustic rocker Corey Smith headlining, has the Fillmore’s trademark red velvet draperies, ornate chandeliers, custom lighting and vintage concert posters. The building, once a historic Charlotte manufacturing site, was reinvigorated by Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, with Soundcraft…

Microsoft, working with researchers at Harvard University,…

The Christian Life Assembly (CLA) Church in Langley, British Columbia is a tech-savvy multi-campus congregation that offers both media streaming and podcast downloads of its services from its website. When the church began an extensive upgrade of its facilities last year, a new sound reinforcement system for its 1,500-seat sanctuary was high on its list of priorities. The new system is headed by three EAW KF730 compact line arrays, SB730 compact line array subwoofers and SB1000z large-format subwoofers supporting program…
