The STK restaurant concept has opened haute steakhouses in major cities around the country, and now its second Manhattan location occupies the ground floor of the borough’s famed W.R. Grace Building. Music plays a vital role in STK’s contemporary vibe, with a custom playlist drawing on classic rock, dance, and everything in between gives way to a live DJ on most evenings. New York City’s EL Media Group designed and installed STK’s sound system around two Symetrix Jupiter 8 turnkey…

Aura Restaurant & Lounge recently opened in Philadelphia and placed itself at the vanguard of the city’s hip and happening night life. Aura hired Pro Systems from nearby Cherry Hill, New Jersey to breathe fire into its sound reinforcement system, and they responded by providing Aura with an unfalteringly stable Symetrix Solus 8, a processor that’s heavy on fidelity and possessed of a deep musical soul. “We’ve been installing Symetrix processors of various types for several years now, and we…

First United Methodist Church of San Diego is the largest Methodist church in southern California and occupies one of the most architecturally-splendid church campuses in the area. Over many decades, First United has struggled with sound reinforcement systems for its multiple venues that somehow always failed to live up to expectations. Recently, Paul Svenson of Sound Casework Inc. (PS Audio Video) reversed the inertia of that sorry history, unifying all five sound systems under a common, easy-to-use, foolproof paradigm centered…

The La Maison Symphonique de Montréal, new home of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, was built to exacting acoustical standards by Tateo Nakajima of Artec Consultants and will host a wide range of musical and theatrical performances. While most of the publicity surrounding the building’s opening is justifiably centered on the acoustics, La Maison is just as sophisticated behind the scenes, with Artec Consultants designing a comprehensive yet intuitive paging system. Philippe Beaudoin of Montréal-based A/V integrator Solotech programmed and installed…

After years of planning a complete renovation of its sanctuary, including an upgrade to its A/V technologies, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oxnard, CA suffered a devastating setback one week before its completion. A fire ruined everything inside the sanctuary. No one was hurt, but the fire was a demoralizing setback of several months. Sound Casework designed and installed St. Paul’s new A/V system, and the company was quick to install – and reinstall – the system, which incorporates…
