Harman Professional has announced the promotion of Bill Raimondi from Market Development Manager, Crown Audio to group-wide Director, Sales U.S. Distribution/Strategic accounts. A new study by the chief economist of the MCPS-PRS Alliance, a not-for-profit royalty collection society, found that sales of music via the Internet are highly limited to a relatively small share of total files available online. In fact, the study notes that “of the 1.23 million albums available (online), only 173,000 were bought, meaning 85 per cent did not sell at all.” The findings were reported in by The Telegraph newspaper of the U.K., which states that the study…

A report this week in the Puget Sound Business Journal notes that Loud Technologies (Mackie, EAW, Martin Audio, TAPCO and several other pro audio brands) “said its key Chinese supplier, which makes about a third of the company’s audio and musical products, has stopped making its products.” The supplier is experiencing financial difficulties.
