The ordinary every-day non-HD attributes of this powered loudspeaker include 900 watts of power with an 1800 watt peak. Power is divided 700/100/100…

The Southern Baptist Convention, held in June at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, was served by a sound reinforcement system powered by 24 new Yamaha TX6n amplifiers The Yamaha amplifiers were purchased from Capital Design Group by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) late last year, in preparation for this year’s event. The SBC-owned audio inventory is vast and can support crowds of up to about 15,000 in a convention center/exhibit hall/theater configuration. “We chose the new…

“It’s all Greek to me.” I hear that phrase often when speaking about the basic concepts of sound in churches. Being both a sound engineer and a musician, I’ve noticed that there is often a stark contrast between learning to play music and operating a sound system. When I learned to play my preferred instrument, I spent countless hours alone in my room making horrible racket that would someday become music. After that racket became music, I went to school…

When planning the upgrade from analog to digital for its Studio 12 in Montreal, CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcasters, found that a 48-channel Solid State Logic C200 HD digital console with two SSL MORSE Stage Boxes was just what they needed for the new all-digital mission of the network. The C200 HD will be used for live to Pro Tools production and post production for radio and television presentations of music performances. “We needed to replace our old analogue console,…

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of arguably one of the most significant musical event in history, Warner Home Video has released “Woodstock: 40th Anniversary—Ultimate Collector’s Edition” on Blu-Ray disc. The release features a re-mastered director’s cut of the original film, including many previously unreleased performances. Producer/engineer Eddie Kramer, who engineered the original recordings that captured the 1969 event, was called by Warner to mix this wealth of previously material. For the project, Kramer relied on a 5.1 JBL Professional LSR6300 studio…
