Founded in 1953, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University today enrolls over 35,000 students in a campus network that spans across Saudi Arabia’s capital city. Islamic tradition specifies that men and women attend school separately, so the University has a campus for each. Most of the university’s multiple lecture halls and auditoriums on both the men’s and women’s campuses have long struggled with intelligibility and reverberation issues. University officials recently embarked on a massive, multi-year retrofit of the school’s sound… View this story

Renkus-Heinz VARIA arrays were recently selected as the primary components in a system upgrade at the main auditorium at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. The facility acts as a multi-purpose venue, used for a wide range of events that includes lectures, city council meetings, panel discussions, recitals, music performances, and movie showings. As Philip Boyd of Ridgeland, MS-based Academic Technologies explains, the college had long struggled to achieve consistent sound coverage across the venue, particularly with regard to vocal intelligibility.… View this story

Located steps from the sand on Mississippi’s scenic Gulf Coast, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church has a rich association with the city and community. Unfortunately, on August 29, 2005, the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed just west of the church, bringing with it 20 foot swells that rendering the main sanctuary and its sound system unusable. As part of St. Thomas’ restoration, the church reached out to Magnolia Music to design a new sound system. After an analysis of… View this story

The Cotai Strip in Macau, China, is modeled after its namesake in Las Vegas, offering high-end casinos, resorts, and all the glitz that accompanies them. At the Galaxy Macau, one of the largest of a recent crop of hotel-casino towers on the strip, visitors are greeted in the lobby by a fountain that transforms into a giant roulette wheel, just before a 10-foot diamond rises from its top. In late 1933, more than 2,000 attended the Suffolk Theater’s grand opening, with the local media declaring it “The Radio City Music Hall of Long Island.” Located in Riverhead, NY, the last remaining movie house built by architect R. The building sat empty until 2005, when Dianne and Bob Castaldi purchased it with a… View this story
