The recent sixth-annual Univision “Premios Juventud” awards show utilized Sennheiser’s wireless technology to recognize the U.S. Hispanic youths’ top recording artists, movie stars, sports figures and pop culture icons. Over 80 wireless channels were used for the podium mics and most of the monitoring. Stylized performances from long-time favorites and up-and-coming celebrities punctuated the announcements, with reggaeton star Alexis y Fido performing with a pair of chrome-customized Sennheiser SKM 5200 wireless mics. “Whereas most awards shows feature performances that include…

It’s hardly rare to hear the words “major motion picture event” applied to a summer film. Visually stunning or not, whether it’s the latest Hollywood biopic, all-star comedy or action adventure, the phrase is attached to big budget summer flicks so permanently and casually that we hardly take notice. In the case of director Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s environ-epic “Home”, however, that phrase actually rings true… Produced by Luc Besson and backed by PPR, a French holding company that specializes in some…

Britain’s Top of the Pops (TOTP) has been a BBC institution since 1964, broadcast weekly until 2006 and occasionally as one-off specials in the following years. The latest TOTP special, broadcast on BBC2 earlier in 2009, featured performances from Franz Ferdinand, Flo-Rida, Oasis, Take That, Tom Jones, James Morrison and more, live from BBC’s Studio 4, as part of this year’s Comic Relief charity fundraising special. Aside from the significance marked by convergence of these great artists, a TOTP revival…

The annual July 4th concert performance at the Ft. Wayne campus of Indiana/Purdue University featured four local acts capped off by nationally known country singer Jo Dee Messina and a spectacular finale featuring the Ft. Mackie describes the HD1531 as a “15” High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker System”. Yep, it’s got a 15” woofer, and it’s a three-way system, and it’s powered. Now what’s all this about being “High Definition”? I suppose I could try to explain it, but it might be easier if you just go here (pdf) and get the Mackie explanation. The ordinary every-day non-HD attributes of this powered loudspeaker include 900 watts of power with an 1800 watt peak. Power is divided 700/100/100…

When planning the upgrade from analog to digital for its Studio 12 in Montreal, CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcasters, found that a 48-channel Solid State Logic C200 HD digital console with two SSL MORSE Stage Boxes was just what they needed for the new all-digital mission of the network. The C200 HD will be used for live to Pro Tools production and post production for radio and television presentations of music performances. “We needed to replace our old analogue console,…
