The latest sound installation by Florian Hecker - titled Event, Stream, Object - introduces a new dimension to the art of sound. An intersection of space, sound, and sophisticated technology, the exhibit challenges one’s ability to “describe what we hear, when, where and from whom it is heard.” The temporary installation is open through August 22, 2010 at MMK, Frankfurt’s museum of modern art, which commissioned the exhibit. As part of MMK’s exhibit Radical Conceptual, Hecker’s Event, Stream, Object creates…

Held in Egypt’s El Sawy Culturewheel cultural center, which shares its walls with the 15th May Bridge across the River Nile, the recent five-day Cairo Jazz Festival featured sound reinforcement headed by Meyer Sound MICA line array loudspeakers. “The MICA arrays were used because we wanted the power, not so much to simply make it loud but to give us dynamics,” states FOH engineer Hameed Sabry. “We hosted a number of bands with diverse styles that the MICA supported very…

Co-headliners Three Days Grace (“3DG”) and Breaking Benjamin are back on tour, with Chris Zakoor as FOH engineer for 3DG. Said Zakoor, the tour wouldn’t feel right if he weren’t mixing in front of a Meyer Sound MILO line arrays. “There’s been nothing but positive vibes using Meyer since we started back in 2007,” Zakoor says. “Both MILO and MICA are powerful, great-sounding rock boxes with lots of headroom for vocals—and plenty of edge if you want it.” The system…
