When Athens’ Pallas Theatre was built in 1926, it quickly became a popular cosmopolitan destination for Athenian socialites, replacing the royal horse stables that were representative of this oldest city in Europe. With its regular jazz music and other eclectic performances, the Pallas Theatre paved the way for an influx of cafes, restaurants, and other gathering places, transforming the city’s Voukourestiou Street district into a cultural hub. Many decades later, Athens received a much needed revitalization, and the Pallas Theatre…

Meyer Sound has announced that it will release high-resolution measurement data for its loudspeakers in the GLL (Generic Loudspeaker Library) format, enabling users of EASE design and simulation software to do system design modeling using Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers. The GLL format stores data in considerably higher resolution than the EASE SPK database used by previous versions of EASE, resulting in more precise predictions. Meyer Sound’s patented MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction program will continue to be the preferred prediction…

Presenting myriad angled planes and asymmetrical layout, St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas has been recently enlarged and furnished with glass and stone surfaces, but the visually striking sanctuary also carried the potential of jumbling words and music in multiple uncontrolled reflections. The solution was discreet acoustical treatments working hand-in-hand with a precision-calibrated Meyer Sound line arrays to provide markedly improved clarity along with a greater sense of intimacy. Mary Thompson, the music director at St. Laurence, has…
