A daring stage adaptation of Sylvester Stallone’s iconic film, ROCKY - Das Musical opened in Germany to glowing reviews. This scope of dramatic moods is supported sonically through variable acoustics generated by a permanently installed Constellation acoustic system from Meyer Sound. With an investment of nearly $20 million by Germany’s Stage Entertainment GmbH, Rocky is staged in Hamburg’s 1,400-seat Operettenhaus, a Stage Entertainment-owned theatre with excellent technical amenities but very dry acoustics. “I started discussing Constellation with technical management at…

The new Hof Menningarhús cultural and conference center in Akureyri, Iceland, is reminiscent of an ancient druid temple but the technology inside is anything but ancient: both the main auditorium and a smaller multi-use venue are equipped with highly adaptable sound systems. The 510-seat Hamraborg hall is the larger auditorium in the complex. This space serves as home to the Northern Symphony Orchestra and hosts theatrical performances, conferences, film screenings, and concerts ranging from acoustic ensembles to heavy metal. To…

Lars Brogaard has been working with Rod Stewart for 27 years, and over the course of that time, the sound reinforcement rig used for what he has occasionally described as a “never-ending” tour has evolved substantially to incorporate new technology, meet changing performance demands, and exceeding the expectations of the audience. Stewart’s recent concert tour of North American arenas proved no exception, with the system, supplied by touring company Major Tom of the U.K., headed by the new Meyer Sound…

Portond, Ore.-based Christian rock band Kutless is playing a variety of venues on its latest tour, from churches and civic auditoriums to an outdoor field and even a Minnesota casino. Regardless of the venue type or size, the band relies on a Meyer Sound MINA line array loudspeaker system supplied by Blackhawk Audio to deliver a consistent-sounding show. “We pretty much cover the gamut on this tour, which is why I wanted to take the MINA system,” says Tim O’Neill,…

The recent ProSoundWeb and Meyer Sound webinar entitled “Understanding Linearity In Sound Systems” is now available for viewing and download HERE. The webinar featured a lively presentation by Meyer Sound instructor Steve Bush, who discussed the concept and definition of linearity and how it directly applies to audio reproduction. The presentation also provided a comprehensive look at different terminologies associated with linearity, and explored means of testing and evaluating the linearity of audio systems. This was followed by a Q…

Meyer Sound has launched a website (here) focusing on the new LEO loudspeaker system. LEO marks Meyer Sound’s first live sound product packaged as a system, consisting of the self-powered LEO-M line array loudspeaker as well as the recently introduced 1100-LFC low-frequency control element (also self-powered) and Galileo Callisto loudspeaker management system. Because of its linearity, LEO can translate a mix to the audience with precision, with sonic tonality and balance unchanged regardless of levels. As a result, the engineer…
