EAW has announced the release of the KF740 zero degree adapter accessory that permits KF740 line array modules to hang with zero degrees of splay between adjacent modules, increasing the output and throw distance of those arrays. In addition, the adapter accessory’s design increases the total load-bearing capability of the upper modules, significantly increasing the size of arrays that can be safely hung. “We developed this adapter because our customers specifically asked for it,” says EAW president Jeff Rocha said.…

At Bicentennial Park near Silao, Mexico, an open-air Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict the XVI gathered a sizable crowd that the Associated Press estimated to reach 350,000 people. To ensure everybody could hear words and music clearly and to full effect, more than 375 Meyer Sound loudspeakers converged at the site—including 268 MILO line array loudspeakers, likely the most ever deployed for any single event. The daunting challenge of audio system design was shouldered by Rodrigo López of Mexico City-based…

The 10th Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival, held in late February, moved to a spacious new site this year at Dubai Festival City, with a Meyer Sound MILO-based line array loudspeaker system covered the site with exemplary sound—even after being pummeled by a ferocious sandstorm. Total attendance topped 46,000 for the nine evenings of performances. “On the second day of the festival we had one of the worst sandstorms in recent years,” recalls Karl Da Costa, technical manager of Dubai-based…

Many regional sound companies today have made the strategic decision to invest in smaller mid-size line arrays as their main speaker systems of choice (the “A” rig), as oppose to making the huge investment of owning a large-scale “big box” line array system. One of the reasons for this is a smaller box system is much easier to “scale up” for larger events, than it is for a large box system to “scale down” for smaller events. And we all…

L-Acoustics Rental Network Agent and Certified Provider Norwest Productions has added 74 KUDO cabinets and 16 LA-RAK amplified controllers to its existing inventory, which already includes 118 KUDO boxes. The equipment was delivered directly to Doha for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pan Arabic Games, whose sound designer, Auditoria’s Scott Willsallen, extensively specifies KUDO for his projects due to its adjustable horizontal cue, which provides even coverage over a large space.
