After a highly successful run in London at the Chocolate Factory, John Doyle’s The Color Purple opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs theatre on Broadway in December 2015, supported by HALO-C line arrays from EM Acoustics. Interestingly, Doyle’s latest version is a far cry from the original flamboyant Broadway show. This time Doyle opted for a much more streamlined, pared-down production, leaving more room for the performers to shine and for the intense emotions to resonate. Just as he did… View this story

In the hands of Wicklow-based systems rental house Sound Design, NEXO’s STM Series line arrays have played a prominent role in Dublin’s month-long official commemorations of the 1916 Easter Rising, the long and bloody rebellion of the Irish people against British rule. ‘Ireland 2016’ was an ambitious and wide-ranging national commemoration with an extensive program of music and speech, theatre and sport. The definition of which characteristics make a line array small- or large-format, is somewhat arbitrary. For this overview, we’ve based the selection on the size of the largest LF driver within the array, considering those with 8-inch to 10-inch cones to be medium-format. Even within the medium-format category, there’s a lot of… View this story
