At InfoComm 2016, VUE Audiotechnik debuted the al-12, the newest and largest addition to the company’s al-Class of scalable line array systems. Designed for large-scale applications, the al-12 is designed for higher efficiency, increased power handling and reduced power compression. VUE incorporates unique, proprietary transducer designs in each al-Class acoustic line array element. Every individual component development project carefully weighs the design trade-offs, to optimize parameters for maximum output capability and heat dissipation, frequency response linearity, duty-cycle reliability, and minimum… View this story

Gabisom Audio Equipment from Brazil deployed Martin Audio’s MLA arrays on the World Stage for the first time at the recent five-day Rock in Rio Festival in Bela Park, Lisbon. In doing so, it was the largest deployment of MLA on a single stage. The historical ties between Martin Audio MLA and Rock in Rio began with a system test at the US event in Las Vegas in May 2015, where it appeared on the second stage, the Mercedes-Benz Evolution.… View this story

Ace Audio, located in Middleton, Connecticut, has been providing sound reinforcement systems for public, private and corporate events since 1993. Recently the company expanded their inventory with the addition of an S-Series line array from Adamson. “We do a lot of regional events and I had been looking to expand our inventory,” explains Mike Goodreau, owner of Ace Audio. “When I heard the S10 line array and saw how versatile it was, I knew it would be exactly what we… View this story

Celebrations in the Indian community are serious business. According to George Fontes, managing director of Fontes Pro Sound & Light, festivals are nothing short of “high-decibel exhilaration.” So, when Mirage, an Indian wedding and banquet hall in Sacramento, California, contacted him to install a new sound system last month, Fontes turned to FBT. He knew anything he installed would be pushed to concert-level limits and he wanted to ensure crisp, clean sound at every event wherever guests were standing in… View this story

Armadillo Day began in 1972 when the Northwestern University Texans held a small celebration in honor of the official mammal of their home state. Now, “Dillo Day” is a student-run music festival, hosted at the Northwestern Lakefill on the shore of Lake Michigan in Evanston, IL. This year’s entertainment for the approximately 10,000 attendees included The Mowgli’s, Schoolboy Q, Cashmere Cat, Dial Up, DJ Hayden James, Derek Carter, among others. Fremont Street is where it all really started in Las Vegas. As the site of many firsts for both the city and Nevada, consider that within an area of five fabled downtown blocks, the city’s first hotel was built (the Hotel Nevada in 1906), Nevada’s first gaming license was issued (to the Northern Club), and the town’s first high-rise took shape (the Fremont Hotel in 1956). By 1992, however, Fremont Street was no longer leading the way, a fact underscored… View this story

The recent InfoComm 2016 show in Las Vegas saw the official North America debut of the new Alcons Audio LR18 pro-ribbon line array system. The 3-way “compact-mid-size” format line-source combines sound quality with power handling rated at 1,500 watts and RMS-to-peak ratio of 1:15. By implementing Alcons’ multiple-patented pro-ribbon technology for mid and high frequencies, a fast impulse response with less distortion is achieved. This enables the LR18 to offer a linear response, with high intelligibility and non-compressed identical tonal… View this story

The newly constructed Church of the Incarnation, located in Dallas, Texas, recently installed an Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) Anya sound reinforcement system designed to blanket the 500-seat worship space. The Episcopal church had a number of requirements for the new system – it needed to be heard but not seen, flexible enough to handle a variety of types of music, and because it is a highly reverberant space, the sound needed to stay off the walls to aid vocal intelligibility.… View this story

Editor’s note: This post has been revised since it was originally posted, and also note that VUE audiotechnick and Alcons Audio provided systems for stages at this festival. To ensure consistent coverage and absolute control over off-site noise, Delicate Productions of San Francisco used a full complement of Martin Audio on three stages at BottleRock 2016 in Napa, CA, starting with an MLA system at the main (Jam Cellars) stage. BottleRock is a typically Northern California three-day celebration of music,… View this story
