Several performers utilized Sennheiser wireless systems for live performances at the recent 2009 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards show held at the Sommet Center in downtown Nashville. Kevin Sanford of Wireless First of New York provided wireless coordination and equipment for the show and the red carpet area, including multiple channels of Sennheiser’s new fully digital EM 3732 receivers. “I love the new 3732s. At 2009 InfoComm, Astatic introduced the new Astatic 1600VP, a unique continuously-variable pattern condenser hanging microphone system with remote polar control and an anti-rotational positioning mount. Designed to hang from ceilings, the 1600VP is highly effective in the recording and sound reinforcement of choirs, instruments and ambient micing, in addition to government, institutional and business applications. Recent Wireless Technology Series: Inside The Lectrosonics D4

The newest wireless system offering from Lectrosonics, the D4, is the first one I’m reviewing that does not use the UHF spectrum. Instead, the D4 runs in the license-free ISM band between 902 and 928 MHz. Unlike the UHF band, this slice of spectrum is only 26 MHz wide (as opposed to over 230 MHz for UHF). When it comes to room acoustics, definitions of “correct” or “appropriate” can be largely dependent upon the musical tastes of the listeners, often making it a sensitive subject. The decisions made are significant in terms of cost as well as the listening experience. Fortunately, not all of the aspects of auditorium sound are so subjective. Large rooms require a sound system, and the criteria for performance are more universally accepted. All successful sound systems must: 1) Provide even sound coverage…

The South Auditorium of Grace Community Church reveals a striking vision of what worship spaces of the future might look like—and sound like. Within this new, extraordinarily adaptable 1,650-seat space in suburban Indianapolis, Ind., a zero-level platform, reconfigurable wrap-around seating, and 360-degree theatrical lighting allow multiple visual and inter-relational effects. Delivering sound for this space, Meyer Sound’s Constellation electroacoustic architecture works hand-in-glove with a collection of Meyer Sound loudspeakers to afford both flexibility and intimacy in creating harmonious aural experiences.…
