Grammy nominated and platinum-selling artists Jonas Brothers, with ongoing world tour shows across the Americas and Europe, are making use of Sennheiser’s new 2000 Series wireless equipment and Sennheiser HSP 4 headsets. Last year, The Jonas Brothers used a Sennheiser G2 rig but now the tour has upgraded to the new 2000 Series components. Joe Jonas sings into a wireless Sennheiser SKM 2000 handheld mic, whereas Nick and Kevin Jonas each sing into Sennheiser’s HSP 4 headsets. The headsets, together…

Reviewing a long list of hits, we find that many of the same or analogous elements work over and over, in their separate contexts, to create their charisma. Some of these have to do with the song itself, others with the way it…

After Michael Prowda made the decision to get into live sound he never looked back. “I had no expectations at the time,” he said. “I just wanted to do it. It was like I was driven to be successful.” Based on that comment, it’s no great surprise that the Syracuse, NY-born monitor engineer counts running among his favorite off stage activities. He brings the kind of discipline and perspective to his work that’s essential to anyone who takes pleasure from…

Mackie describes the HD1531 as a “15” High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker System”. Yep, it’s got a 15” woofer, and it’s a three-way system, and it’s powered. Now what’s all this about being “High Definition”? I suppose I could try to explain it, but it might be easier if you just go here (pdf) and get the Mackie explanation. The ordinary every-day non-HD attributes of this powered loudspeaker include 900 watts of power with an 1800 watt peak. Power is divided 700/100/100…

Summer weather finally came to the Midwest last weekend, just in time this year’s Lollapalooza at Grant Park in downtown Chicago. But temperatures in the 90s with high humidity did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the all-star line-up or the crowds that packed the park each night. At least two of the headline artists featured at Lollapalooza utilized Shure wireless microphone systems for their live performances. On the rainy opening night, Depeche Mode slogged through the mud circa Woodstock…

Several performers utilized Sennheiser wireless systems for live performances at the recent 2009 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards show held at the Sommet Center in downtown Nashville. Kevin Sanford of Wireless First of New York provided wireless coordination and equipment for the show and the red carpet area, including multiple channels of Sennheiser’s new fully digital EM 3732 receivers. “I love the new 3732s. It’s very user friendly,” comments Sanford. “The sensitivity, the functionality, booster on/off, the power aspect. The…

With an original sound that is equal parts indie rock and hip-hop, duo Chester French has been on the fast track to fame ever since their first hit single “She Loves Everybody” debuted last November. After months of shows and TV appearances, the release of their first album, “Love the Future,” and a U.S. tour with Lady Sovereign, the pair of Harvard alumni will embark for Europe, returning home in July to begin opening for punk rockers Blink-182 on their…
