October 31st saw the world premiere of Hopscotch, the world’s first opera for cars and the latest project of experimental opera company The Industry. Using the city of Los Angeles as its backdrop, Hopscotch allows for the audience to experience the opera inside and outside 24 limousines and along three separate routes. Running until November 22, the project uses audio technology from Sennheiser to vividly convey the storyline. Yamaha announces the release of the new MT Series professional studio monitor headphones, the HPH-MT7. The concept is to deliver precision and fidelity that will provide audio engineers in professional monitoring environments with an ideal platform to build their own signature sound. The concert, held ‘on the ocean floor’ at low tide in Fundy National Park near the southeast coast of Canada, was performed to more than 1,000 attendees using Sennheiser wireless headphones as part of Parks Canada and CBCMusic’s Quietest. This article is provided by   The recording engineer’s job is to create an environment conducive to musical creativity and then capture that creativity. I often say that. Headphones are usually the only way that a musician will be able to hear themselves and (more importantly) how what they’re playing works with the rest of the band. Every musician will ask to hear themselves much louder than everyone else. This makes sense as it will allow them to play… View this story

As guitarist Jeff Baxter once said to me during the “heat” of a Rod Stewart recording session: “We can do anything—the impossible just takes a little longer.” Along with talented musicians like Jeff, engineers, producers, and live mixers often are called upon to solve problems that are at first glance, flat impossible. To a technically challenged client, all the flashy and complicated gear, computers and the alacrity at which a pro uses them to produce nearly instant, seemingly magical results… View this story

The Domicil jazz club in Dortmund recently hosted two sold-out evenings to experience a live CD recording and video production for two young jazz bands: the six-piece instrumentalists, “Filou” and the string trio, “Duck Tape Ticket.” Producer Julian David took the very deliberate decision to ditch the PA in favour of wireless headphones in order to provide a completely immersive experience for the audience as well as the best possible conditions for audio capture and recording. The event was supported… View this story
