If you’re a front of house mixer, here’s what you need to know about monitors. If asked to adjust monitor settings, look the person directly in the eye and say, “I handle front of house; I don’t do monitors.” Speak it with authority and perhaps add a bit of disdain, then turn quickly and as you’re walking away add, “let me find the monitor mixer for you.” At this point your job is done, unless of course, you actually happen…

The recent 15-date “Snow Patrol Reworked” tour of the UK and Ireland recreated songs from the band’s 15-year career, with a dual Midas XL8 system at front of house and monitors provided by Britannia Row. Leading touring company Sound Image recently invested in a pair of DiGiCo SD7 digital consoles and is supplying them for both house and monitor system duties on the current European concert tour by Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz is touring in support of the 20th anniversary deluxe reissue of his debut album Let Love Rule, and he has performed with DiGiCo consoles for several years.
