Swedish rock band Takida has embarked on its sellout spring tour of Scandinavia, The Burning Heart, with Midas PRO2 consoles being used for FOH and monitors. Leading Scandinavian hire company Starlight, which purchased the PRO2s from Midas’ Swedish distributor Intersonic, is the first company in the region to use a dual system on a tour. “Overall the system is very stable, and I really feel I can fully trust it,” says monitor engineer Robert Egnelius. “The POPulation and MCA groups…

In 2011, the Royal Shakespeare Company installed a DiGiCo SD7 console in the refurbished Swan Theatre, Stratford upon Avon. It proved to be such a success that when the Company needed an additional mixer for its touring shows and West End transfers, they chose another DiGiCo board – this time the SD9. “We have a long relationship with DiGiCo and needed a console to transfer shows that currently exist on an SD7, but would be playing in smaller venues,” says…

First United Methodist Church of San Diego is the largest Methodist church in southern California and occupies one of the most architecturally-splendid church campuses in the area. Over many decades, First United has struggled with sound reinforcement systems for its multiple venues that somehow always failed to live up to expectations. Recently, Paul Svenson of Sound Casework Inc. (PS Audio Video) reversed the inertia of that sorry history, unifying all five sound systems under a common, easy-to-use, foolproof paradigm centered…

For years, Los Angeles’ iconic rock radio station, KROQ, mused about creating their own intimate, in-studio listening space complete with a stage, studio lighting and amazing sound for their listeners. Recently they cleared out some cubicles and the sales office space-turned-nightclub—dubbed the Red Bull Sound Space—became a reality. With A-list band bookings, from inaugural shows with New Found Glory and Coldplay last fall, to subsequent shows with Angels & Airwaves, The Fray, Carmen, Falling in Reverse, Naked and Famous and…

Danish singer-songwriter Mads Langer, well known for his guitar-based ballads, utilized DiGiCo SD11 consoles and Neumann digital microphones during his end-of-year European tour. Sound company for the tour was Victory Tour Production, a long-term DiGiCo rental house. Victory Tour Productions provided a pair of SD11s and shared SD racks for the tour purchased via DiGiCo’s Danish distributor Soundware. DiGiCo supplied the AES42 interfaces. “We wanted to use Neumann digital microphones and DiGiCo is one of only two manufacturers who currently…

From elegant social events to corporate gatherings and non-profit galas, New York City’s Gotham Hall never ceases to amaze. In order to match the prestige of the venue and its variety of functions, Eastern Stage Productions, located in Edgewood, New York, recently installed a Soundcraft Vi1 digital console. Gotham Hall, originally a landmark bank built in 1922 incorporating many Roman architectural features, was transformed in 2002 into a remarkable high-end ballroom. It has been used for a variety of events…
