    Mike Rivers 10/21/16 11:54 AM,
This article is provided by PreSonus.   The significance of balanced and unbalanced connections between audio devices, as well as the meaning of the terms, is often misunderstood. A balanced output can be designed, constructed, and connected in many ways, and there are several ways in which balanced and unbalanced devices can be interconnected. Balanced connections have a long history that dates back to the early days of telephony. The phone company runs thousands of miles of unshielded cable between… View this story

Switchcraft announce an addition to our HPC series of high current connectors for loudspeaker and power applications.  All HPC connectors are fully compatible with Neutrik Speakon connectors.  This updated 4 pole version (HPCC4FT) has the turn to lock latching mechanism that has become standard in these types of connectors. The existing version (HPCC4F) has an XLR-style push lock. In addition to loudspeaker applications,  HPC connectors are touch-proof, rated for 30Amps, and have been used for AC power applications. Gary Zandstra 08/12/16 06:31 AM,
This article is provided by Gary   Operating the sound system from the mix position during a Sunday worship service, “it” all began when the first note from our grand piano was distorted. Hmm… We’d checked the piano channel and sound prior to the service, and all was fine. My first reaction to the distortion now being produced was to reduce the gain on that console channel, thinking perhaps the piano player was “nailing” the keys very hard. Yet… View this story

Switchcraft/Conxall has expanded its Mini-Con-X line of sealed circular connectors to add a right angle PCB mount option for all panel mount configurations. The Con-X line, original developed by Conxall in the 1980’s for the marine industry, is a series of waterproof connectors in a variety of sizes and configurations. The 18mm Mini-Con-X is one of the most popular sizes in sealed connectors, and although it has been available with PC contacts, mounting the connector perpendicular to the board required… View this story

    Craig Leerman 04/05/16 12:28 PM,
The majority of live shows and events present interconnect challenges. We need to interface our gear with installed house systems, recording or broadcast trucks, A/V companies, rental gear, and even equipment from our own inventory that has different connectors. My company’s inventory, for example, consists of various analog and digital consoles, some of which have 1/4-inch TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) connectors for outputs, while others have XLR connectors and still others are outfitted with some combination of both. As a general rule,… View this story

Switchcraft has expanded its “AAA” series XLR and Tini-QG Mini-XLR connectors, adding white as a color option in addition to the existing black and nickel. The AAA series represents nearly 70 years of experience making XLR connectors, and with no screws and only 2 pieces to assemble it is fast and easy to install.  Already a favorite of the lighting industry, the white option opens new possibilities.  “Many architectural lighting installations utilize white hardware,” said Switchcraft’s OEM marketing manager Dan… View this story

    PSW Staff 10/10/13 11:12 AM,
Neutrik USA has introduced the new NL2FX speakON connector, replacing the outgoing NL2FC connector and, in the process, providing several important improvements. The new NL2FX uses the proven latch and strain relief design of Neutrik’s acclaimed STX series, which is identical to that used on the company’s popular NL4FX. Further, this robust new connector has higher power handling capability (40A RMS per contact versus 30A RMS for the older NL2FC), providing the ability to accommodate an even wider range of… View this story
