This June, for the 10th year in a row, well over 60,000 excited music fans descended upon Manchester, Tennessee, for the Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival, featuring dozens of performing artists, including Eminem, Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Widespread Panic and many more. As the audio director for Merlefest, one of the largest traditional bluegrass music hoedowns in the U.S., industry veteran and SE Systems co-owner Cliff Miller has been on the scene for all of the fest’s 24 years. Recently, SE added a pair of the new DiGiCo SD10 consoles and two DiGiCo SD racks with HMA Optics—their first DiGiCo purchase—to the company’s touring stock. Miller was looking for a couple of new digital consoles that could do 96 kHz, when DiGiCo…

Precise Corporate Staging (PCS) of Tempe, Arizona upped its L-Acoustics product count in late-May with the addition of 24 KUDO enclosures, 24 SB28 subs and six LA-RAK touring amplifier racks. The systems were purchased, in part, to accommodate the busy summer festival schedule of PCS’ new entertainment division, which this year deploys systems and staging for Country USA and Rock USA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and the week-long Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota. “With 30 V-DOSC already in our inventory,…

With nine vocalists on stage performing directly in front of the orchestra, no visible microphones allowed on the performers, a mixture of classical music, opera, and selections from musicals, and the need for both live sound reinforcement and recording, veteran sound engineer Lars Wern had his hands full with the recent “Epiphany” concert in Sweden. The annual concert, organized by the Swedish Television Company SVT and Swedish radio broadcaster SR, was held in Stockholm’s Berwaldhallen concert hall, home of the…

More than 50 years ago, five New Jersey municipalities - Englewood, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck - donated land to the County of Bergen with the intention of creating a central commons for art, sports and other leisure activities. After years of hard work, the vision to turn what was once a landfill into a beautiful park is now a reality. Dubbed “Central Park West,” the new 138-acre Overpeck County Park recently added a complete sound reinforcement system…
