For the second year, Crosby, Stills and Nash is touring with a QSC WideLine-10 line arrays that take less than a quarter of the truck space of the previous loudspeaker system. The extensive Crosby, Stills and Nash tour this year began in Europe, returning to the U.S. late in July in support of Demos, a collection of 12 previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1968 and 1971. It was a true British invasion of audio equipment when Las Vegas, NV-based group The Killers recently toured North America, with primary sound reinforcement equipment coming from Martin Audio and DiGiCo. Delicate Productions of Camarillo, CA provided equipment for the U.S. leg of the tour, also working with British sound company Capital Sound, a partnership that sees both companies working together on two continents. Alan Behr, Audio Crew Chief and Delicate Productions employee, explains, “We have a very similar inventory.…

Monitor Engineer Nahuel Gutierrez has been using a Midas PRO6 live audio system for the UK concert tour by the Noisettes, a popular indie rock band from London. Having previously spent 15 months with its big brother the XL8 on the final Oasis world tour, Gutierrez found the transition to the PRO6 an easy one. “I was able to mix on the PRO6 in the same way I did on the XL8, and after a short time learning where the…

Q. How did you get started in the business? John Kerns: I played in bands when I was young. We owned our own small PA and then I moved to California and started doing studio stuff for a little while. I just sort of lucked into the live thing. Q. How long have you worked on A-level tours like No Doubt, doing big stadium shows? JK: Since 1986 or 87 for arena/shed type tours. This is my fourth tour with…

Pearl Jam, now back on the road in support of new release “Backspacer”, is utilizing EAW MicroWedge MW12 stage monitors selected by the band’s long-time Monitor Engineer Karrie Keyes and provided by Rat Sound Systems of Oxnard, CA. Among the challenges Keyes faces this tour are limited stage space, very loud stage volume and meeting the individual sound preferences of each of the musicians. The goal is to have no “pockets” on stage without sound, with lead singer Eddie Vedder…
