Renowned violinist Tim Kliphuis recently chose to utilize a DPA 4099 instrument microphone for all of his live performances. Kliphuis, who acquired his new DPA mic from UK distributor Sound Network, is a prolific performer whose music is a boundary-crossing fusion of gypsy jazz, classical and folk. He notes that he has switched to the DPA 4099 because he found he couldn’t rely on the acoustic quality of microphones usually provided by venues. “I’ve played as far afield as Syria… View this story

The coaxial approach developed for the new Fulcrum Acoustic TQ install CX/DX loudspeaker products may look familiar, but there are a number of technical innovations which differentiate these from their predecessors. Like the legendary Altec 604, the CX/DX coaxial driver uses an integrated compression driver and woofer assembly. The similarity ends here. The basic design approach of most modern, high performance coaxial drivers is to mount a compression driver to the rear of a woofer, with the exit of the… View this story

The new d&b audiotechnik T-Series line array offers two different loudspeaker technologies in one package - it is the company’s smallest line array that also easily transforms into a stand-alone point source system. The T10 cabinet (470/18.5 x 197/7.8 x 300/11.8 mm/inch) is a passive two-way design that houses two 6.5-inch drivers, a 1.4-inch-exit HF compression driver and can be used either as a compact component in a multiple cabinet line array or, by rotating the horn as a high-directivity… View this story
