Summer weather finally came to the Midwest last weekend, just in time this year’s Lollapalooza at Grant Park in downtown Chicago. But temperatures in the 90s with high humidity did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the all-star line-up or the crowds that packed the park each night. Eighth Day Sound recently did double-duty on two major events, the Hot 97 Summer Jam at Giants Stadium in New York, and then moving south to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee. John Hayes and Jesse Ashby have been named the recipients of the 2009 Robert Bosch Scholarships through the NSCA Education Foundation. These $2,500 scholarships are granted to students pursuing careers in the electronic systems industry or a related field. Hayes attends Columbia College Chicago and is working toward a bachelor’s degree in Audio Arts and Acoustics.
