Heil Sound has introduced the PR 48 large diaphragm dynamic microphone, designed for kick drum use. The PR 48 features a 1.5-inch diameter element, and is mounted in a vulcanized double shock mount, which offers complete isolation within a rugged cast metal housing, which is designed with a slanted entrance to the 3-pin XLR so the cable assembly is easier to connect. A specially designed low pass filter sets the -3 dB hinge points at 30 Hz and 8kHz with…

Heil and Frampton went their separate ways over the years, with Heil guiding his company, Heil Sound,…

Midas and Klark Teknik have brought U.K. product distributorship in house, with Rob Hughes, previously employed by Shuttlesound to handle the brands, joining Midas and Klark Teknik to continue his role as U.K. sales consultant. “With the U.K. being one of the most influential markets in concert touring, it warrants direct access to the factory,” says Hughes. “With this move, U.K. customers will have the direct support of not only me, but also Karl Brant and his service team, technical…

Broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry on Gospel Music Television, the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards relied on audio input provided almost entirely by Shure. A total of 350 microphones were allotted to the task, 16 of which operated on Shure UHF-R wireless channels. Among these 16 channels, 12 worked with either KSM9 or Beta 58A handheld transmitters used for performances by Shure endorsers, including Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Natalie Grant, and MercyMe. Grant – who appeared before the…

And, I also like to just hang out and talk shop with other sound guys. A recent event planned by some ProSoundWeb community members,…
