Let’s start with the basics: all things being equal, more transmitter power = more range for the system, but not in a linear way. In broad terms, when discussing analog wireless systems, the receiver wants to see a signal from a transmitter that is at least about…

The first group has used them for years, loves them and wouldn’t consider going back to alkaline batteries. The second group has never used them, though most have heard the horror stories and…

Recently I was reading ProSoundWeb and saw a TechTip where someone asked if storing used batteries in a refrigerator really makes them last longer. Now, I can’t for the life of me believe that this can remotely work, even if science is slightly on the Tech Director’s side. However, after reading all that I got to thinking about the…

Front of House Engineer Kyle Chirnside is utilizing a Midas PRO6 digital console on the current world tour by Fall Out Boy. “I’ve always been a Midas guy,” states Chirnside. “Whenever I had a choice, I would have my XL4. But then I had the chance to test drive the XL8.” That opportunity came with an invitation visit Metallica FOH Engineer Big Mick Hughes during preparations for Fall Out Boy’s autumn 2008 tour of the UK and Europe. “We were…
