Audix USA has launched the FP QUAD drum mic pack, a cost effective alternative to the DP QUAD drum mic pack introduced in 2011. The FP QUAD pack includes F6 dynamic microphone for kick drum, the F5 dynamic microphone for snare drum and two F9 condensers microphones for overhead applications. The F5 and F6 are high-SPL dynamic microphones, well suited for close mic’ing and vital for capturing the attack and percussive sound of the drums. The F5 mic reinforces the…

Audix has introduced the TM1 Plus, a combination kit that includes the TM1 measurement microphone, threaded acoustic windscreen, shock mount clip, 1/2-inch calibrator adapter and microphone calibration data on CD. The data files are a numeric representation of the TM1 frequency response. Together with the provided sensitivity of the microphone, they can be used with a variety of popular software measurement systems to correct the response curve of the microphone. “The TM1 has earned very high acceptance among sound engineers…

Audix has introduced the DP-QUAD, a package of microphones specifically for drums and percussion. It includes the D6 for kick, i5 for snare and two ADX51s for overhead, intended to create a blend effect between close and overhead mic’ing. The D6 and i5 are high SPL dynamic microphones particularly well-suited for close mic’ing, effective in capturing the attack and percussive sound of the drum. The ADX51 is a pre-polarized condenser microphone with a 14mm gold sputtered diaphragm, designed for overhead…

Audix has introduced the M40 and M70 overhead ceiling microphone systems, which are designed to capture and reproduce high quality audio from an overhead ceiling height of eight to ten feet while minimizing room noise and ambient sound. The M40 features a stylish hanging gooseneck design while the M70 features a low profile flush mount design where the mic disappears from sight. Both systems exhibit complete immunity from RF caused by cell phones and other GSM devices. Both mics are…

Audix has introduced the TM1, a pre-polarized condenser microphone for test and measurement applications. The TM1 provides linearity, accurate response, consistency, ease of use, and affordability. It is designed to capture acoustic measurements for room analysis software programs, real time analyzers and other sound control devices. The TM1 is characterized with a uniformly controlled omni-directional polar pattern and an extremely flat frequency range over 20 Hz – 25 kHz. Requiring 18 - 52 Volts phantom power for operation, the TM1…

Mackie describes the HD1531 as a “15” High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker System”. Yep, it’s got a 15” woofer, and it’s a three-way system, and it’s powered. Now what’s all this about being “High Definition”? I suppose I could try to explain it, but it might be easier if you just go here (pdf) and get the Mackie explanation. The ordinary every-day non-HD attributes of this powered loudspeaker include 900 watts of power with an 1800 watt peak. Power is divided 700/100/100…

As most of us should know by now, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has made its initial recommendations of the use of wireless microphone and communications systems alongside that of TV Band Devices and other spectrum users. The original proposed date of February 18, 2009, still has some implications, albeit put back to June 12, 2009, if and when that decision makes its way from the Senate through the House of Representatives. In the meantime, parts of the U.S. have…
